Saxon Math vs Alpha Omega Lifepac Math

Two well-known names in math curriculums, Saxon math and Alpha Omega Lifepac math have very different approaches. Each is designed for homeschoolers and is a complete K-12 series. Saxon math is recognized as a solid, rigorous academic curriculum suited for slow, average or bright students and fully college preparatory. Alpha Omega Lifepac math is seen as a solid curriculum, slightly easier than some, though still college preparatory.

Saxon Geometry vs Alpha Omega Lifepac

After years of integrating high school geometry with their algebra and advanced math programs, Saxon Math has recently published a brand new Saxon Geometry textbook. Should homeschoolers continue using the traditional sequence, supplement with another geometry curriculum such as Alpha Omega Lifepac, or use the new Saxon Geometry?

The pluses to continuing with the traditional Saxon sequence – Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Advanced Math, and Calculus – are twofold. For one thing,… Read the rest of this post...

Alpha Omega Lifepac versus Scott Foresman Math

This article compares the pros and cons of two popular math curriculums, Alpha Omega Lifepac Math and Scott Foresman Math.

The Alpha Omega Lifepac Math was specifically designed with home education in mind, whereas the Scott Foresman is designed for and primarily used by public school teachers. Despite the fact that Scott Foresman caters to the needs of public school districts, many homeschoolers have found it also works well for their children.… Read the rest of this post...

Alpha Omega Lifepac 7th Grade Math

The The Alpha Omega Lifepac math curriculum is a popular, Christian mastery based program in which the student completes his work in self contained units over the course of the year. The Christian approach is a refreshing change from the attitudes presented “between the lines” of some secular math books. The mastery approach means that students practice the concepts in the unit rather intensely for about three weeks, reviewing regularly. They take a test… Read the rest of this post...

Alpha Omega Lifepac 2nd Grade Math

The Alpha Omega Lifepac approach to math is mastery learning, with a Christ-centered attitude. Cute cartoon characters enliven the pages and memory verses help kids keep their focus on the Lord. The methodology encourages the satisfaction of accomplishment in the child. In 2nd grade math, children are more confident readers ready for a slightly more independence in their learning, and many enjoy working ahead in their Alpha Omega Lifepac workbooks.
